The need for the Call Option

A trip represents the right to buy a security at a specific price on or before a specified time. In the prior definition we have been referring to American or Standard contracts. A European contract would simply be executed at the end of the contract (called expiration). A trader would typically want to use this type of security when the market (or stock) is expected to rise fairly significantly in price. The rewards to be correct can be quite substantial.

When you should Use a Put Option

Put contracts provide the owner the right to sell a stock at a specific price on or before a certain date (refer to our discussion of yank vs. European contracts above - same rules apply). These are typically desired when the market or stock is anticipated to fall in price. These are also frequently used in combination with a share purchase. This is done to hedge up against the possibility of buying a stock just to have it suddenly fall.

Although most trading options tutorial guides don't cover binaries, many traders have begun dealing with binary contracts as a means of generating quick income. Whereas normal option trades usually expire in weeks or months, binaries have very short duration - usually measured in hours or maybe as long as a week. This rapid turnover plus the high fixed yields (approximately 70% give or take a little) makes them very well liked amongst day traders world wide.
